atomcamp, in collaboration with Mahbub ul Haq Research Center (MHRC) at LUMS is organizing a conference on The Future of Work: Trends, Tech, and Transformation. This event aims to explore the landscape of work in light of emerging technologies, industry trends, and transformative shifts. The conference will bring together leading academics, industry specialists, and practitioners to exchange insights, share research findings, and discuss the future of work in Pakistan and internationally.
Objectives of the Conference
- To provide a platform for academics to showcase their research in the domain of future work trends.
- To engage industry specialists and practitioners in dialogue with academia on real-world challenges faced currently in the skillset of the workforce.
- To support and promote innovation by funding final-year student projects that align with the conference theme.
- To create long-term collaboration opportunities between academia, industry, and policymakers.
Event Activities
- Academic Presentations: 3 academics will present their research and insights on the future of work. The presentations will focus on key trends such as automation, AI, remote work, upskilling, and the gig economy. This segment will allow for an in-depth exploration of academic contributions to understanding workforce transformation.
- Panel Discussion: A panel discussion will follow, featuring a diverse mix of academics, industry specialists, and practitioners. This session will focus on the practical implications of workforce trends, challenges faced by organizations in adapting to change, and the role of technology in reshaping employment. The panel will address questions related to upskilling, digital transformation, and policy requirements for the future of work.
- Project Funding Announcement: atomcamp will announce a competitive funding initiative for final-year student projects. A total of 5 projects will be selected. Projects will be evaluated based on their relevance to conference themes, potential impact, and feasibility. The projects will focus on research around the idea of existing tech skills gaps globally and which of the skills will be relevant in the future. atomcamp will create a pipeline of submission of research, from the beginning to end – keeping in check the progress of the students. The submission will have a strict deadline and it will aim for final year projects starting in the 8th Semester.
